Combination Door Locks

Combination door locks are becoming more popular as people discover that going keyless is so convenient. These door locks open when you enter your secret code on the keypad. Combination door locks mean that there aren't any keys to carry, batteries to change, or wires to run. Keyless locks are mechanical and easy to install. You can set a combination of numbers and letters or just numbers and change the combination easily whenever you want to. Combination locks are also more secure than traditional door locks because they cannot be picked or bumped.

Patio Door Locks

Patio door locks are usually easier than other door locks for intruders to overcome. For one thing, the physics of a sliding patio door mean that the traditional lock isn't very secure. Even a child, who sees how these door locks work, can figure out how to open one. That's why patio door locks need to be considered differently than traditional door locks. Keyed locks are available, as are physical locks that prevent the door from sliding. These door locks can mount at the top or at the bottom of a patio door.

Keypad Door Locks

Keypad door locks used to only be found in commercial, industrial, or government settings, but they're now becoming popular for residential use. To open these door locks, the user punches in a number combination. These are great for people who tend to lose their keys because it means no more leaving a spare key in a "secret" place for emergencies. Keypad door locks are easy to install and can be programmed for any number combination, usually from 4 to 8 digits long. Users can easily change the combination for keypad door locks whenever they want.

Card Door Locks

Card door locks are usually battery powered, but some of them have their own small generators inside. Card door locks work when the user inserts a card with a magnetic strip into a slot. If the user is authorized, the lock will open. Some of these door locks also contain a keypad for card or keypad entry. They are growing in popularity because they are easy to reprogram to accept or deny certain cards, making them useful door locks for dorms, apartments, and hotels.

Sliding Door Locks

Sliding door locks are among the easiest to overcome for an intruder due to the physics of traditional sliding door locks. This, in addition to the fact that people often consider their sliding door as the casual or "family" entrance to their home makes sliding doors inviting to burglars. However, physical sliding door locks are readily available and will thwart the attempts of even a determined intruder. When in place, these door locks present a physical barrier to opening the door. They can be installed either at the top or at the bottom of sliding doors.
